More commonly known as Mauritius airport (MRU), Sir Seewoosgar Ramgoolam International Airport is the main gateway into Indian Ocean's island of Mauritius and is approximately forty five minutes from the Capital, Port Louis.
The airport is located near Plaisance in Plaine Magnien, a town situated on the south eastern part of Mauritius, so there is no surprise that the locals label it Plaisance International Airport.
Lounges at Mauritius Airport
There are two main lounges located in the airport, La Terrasse (VIP) departure lounge and the Premium Lounge for arrivals. Both offer passengers comfort and relaxation with a hassle-free experience, including up-to-date flight information, business facilities and a fully licensed bar.
Shopping at Mauritius Airport
A wide array of shopping opportunities can be available to passengers within Mauritius airport. Last minute purchases can be made in flower shops, book shops, hand-craft specialist shops, clothing fashion shops before departing for your journey home.
The Mauritius Duty Free Paradise shop offers a gourmet selection of luxury duty free items, including top brands of perfumes, jewellery, chocolates, cosmetics and locally made produce. There are two duty free shops located in both the arrival and the departure halls.
Dining at Mauritius Airport
Mauritius airport provides excellent catering services with several restaurants dotted around offering a variety of cuisine choices, from local produce to exotic snacks and beverages.
The restaurants can be found in the arrivals hall, a fast food combined with an a la carte menu restaurant in the departure hall and some others will be available once through security for passengers who are departing.
Car Hire at Mauritius Airport
Passengers can hire cars upon arrival in to Mauritius at the desks in the Tour Operators hall. Car rental companies include: ABC Car Rental, Avis, Europcar, SIXT and first car rental.
Currency & Postal Services
A post office is located in the airports hall at arrivals, where passengers can carry out postal orders and use the telegram services provided.
There are numerous ATMs also located in the arrivals hall and passengers can also use a currency exchange service which is available in the check-in area in departures.
